British Deputy Commissioner Lauds Swachh Bharat Initiative

‘Swachh Bharat’ is the perfect example of community participation in social activities, said Andrew McAllister, deputy commissioner, British High Commission.

While launching the Centre for Social Sciences (CSS) at Indian School of Business (ISB) here on Friday, he said there is a new sense of social activities in India which is a good sign for the country.
CSS is a social enterprise which engages in community based services through education and social services. This is the institute which exclusively works in the field of social sciences, said Ayesha Rubina, founder of CSS.

Michael Mullins, US Consul-General at Hyderabad, who was also one of the chief guests at the event, said collaboration of private sector and social workers can create better platform to face major issues of our society. He encouraged the social workers to focus more on the water problems in India.
“Access to safe water should be the first priority of social workers,” he added.  CSS is an initiative of several NGOs and entrepreneurs. It will offer various services in social work including a three-month long diploma course and training facilities to the volunteers in social service.
